Important Questions with Answer – This Post contains important questions and answers for the Class 10 English subject for the annual examinations of 2026, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Bhopal. These questions have been asked in the board’s examinations in previous years.

(1) Who or what did Lencho have faith in ? What did he do ?

Ans- Ans-  Lencho had faith in God. Because he was instructed that God sees everything, even what is deep in one’s conscience. So, he thought of seeking help from God. He wrote a letter to God asking him to send hundred pesos so that he could buy food and seed.

(2) What Nelson Mandela thought about the oppressor ?

Ans- Nelson Mandela thought that one who took away another man’s freedom is a prisoner of hatred; he is locked behind the bars of prejudice and narrow-mindedness.

(3) Why were two national anthem sung ?

Ans- By singing two national anthems, Black people accepted the presence of whites and vice-versa. Because blacks and whites are the main constituents of the nation. They also showed mutual respect for each other.

(4) What compelled young seagull to take his first flight ?

Ans- When seagull’s mother came nearer to the young seagull with a piece of fish, the sight of food maddened him. This hunger for the food compelled young seagull to take his first flight.

(5) What is the Chinese legend about tea ?

Ans- There was a Chinese emperor who used to boil water before drinking it. One day a few leaves of the twigs burning under the pot fell into the water giving it is a delicious flavour.

(6) How did Valli react for the dead cow ?

Ans- Valli was overcome with sadness after seeing the corpse of dead cow. The memory started haunting her, dampening her enthusiasm. She was completely a different girl while coming back from the town as she no longer wanted to look out of the window.

(7) Why did Siddhartha Gautama @blandon his luxurious life ?

Ans- Because, once when Siddhartha went out for haunting, he came across with the suffering of people, he saw a sick man, then an aged man, then a funeral procession, and a monk begging for alms. These sights so moved him that he decided to leave his luxurious life.

(8) Where did Siddhartha Gautama get enlightenment ? What name was given to him after that ?

Ans- Siddhartha Gautam got enlightenment under a peepal tree. After getting enlightenment he renamed the peepal tree the Bodhi tree means “tree of Wisdom”. He was known as Gautam Buddha after that.

Q.(i) In the reference of the poem ‘Fire and Ice’, how will the world end ?

Ans- In the poem ‘Fire and Ice’, the poet says that if the world ends, then there will be the two main reason of it, and the reason are fire of desire and ice of hatred.

Q.(ii) What are the things that Amanda’s mother ask her to do and not to do ?

Ans- Amanda’s mother asks her to finish her homework, tidy her room, clean her shoes and always look at her when she speaks. Her mother asks her not to do bite nails, not to hunch her shoulder and not to eat chocolates.

Q.(iii) How will the departure of the trees affect the house ?

Ans- The trees are as ornamental things. in the house. The poet hears the whisper of moving twigs and branches. The house will be no more the same because the trees are the soul of it. Consequently the departure of the trees would make the house silent.

Q (i) How did the nattator cure Trieki ?

Ans- Narrator provided Tricki a natural environment. He made him to run, to play with other dogs. Without giving Tricki any medicine, Mr. Herriot successfully cured Tricki.

Q (ii) How did Ausable get rid of Max ?

Ans- Ausable forced Max to believe that there was a balcony adjacent to the hotel room by saying, this was the second chance when someone broke into the room through the balcony. When waiter knocked the door max understood that Ausable would hand him over to the police, because Max had not known about the waiter. That forced him to jump outside the window, which caused his untimely death.

Q (iii) How did Griffin become invisible ?

Ans- Griffin swallowed certain rare drugs and his body became as transparent as a sheet of glass-though he also remained as solid as glass. Thus he became invisible.

Q. How did Valli plan her bus ride? What did she find out about the bus and how did she save up the fare   3 ( MP BOARD 2023)

Ans- Valli decided to use the afternoon time to ride the bus, because this time her mother would nap from about one to four. She got every information like distance, fare and time taken by bus to reach town. She had also saved the fare money which were given to her for spending at the village fair. When she entered into the bus, she saw that bus was painted with gleaming white some green stripes along the sides. A beautiful clock was also placed above the wind shield.

Ans- When Lomov came with the proposal of marrying Natalya to Chubukov, Chubukov was very happy to know his intention of visiting him. Then he called his daughter Natalya. After exchanging words of greeting, Natalya and Lomov started arguing on the possession over oxen Meddows. Natalya insulted and asked him to leave. But when Chubukov informed her about the real purpose of his coming. She started repenting. She again called him, this time they fought over their pets. After a long quarrel among Lomov, Natalya and her father Chubukov suddenly Chubukov fell sick and Lomov also started palpitating. Then Chubukov asked both to kiss and got married. They do the same, but their fight over the pet continued.

Ans- Young boy says to Anne that she would be loved for the outer beauty, for the honey coloured-hair she has, for the beauty of the face which is not her real beauty. No one would love her for her inner beauty or for real herself.

Ans- Because Custard the dragon was the only one who was coward. Belinda, Ink, Blink and Mustard every one was brave. But Custard was afraid was afraid of everything. Therefore he cried for a nice and safe cage. He is called “Cowardly dragon” because he acts like that.

Q. Noodle avoids offending Think-Tank but at the same time he corrects   his mistakes. How does he manage to do that ? 3 ( MP BOARD 2023)

Ans- Think-Tank has said already, he says to show no importance of his statement. In this way Noodle corrects Think-Tank.

Q.The course of the Loisels’ life changed due to the necklace. Comment. ( MP BOARD 2023)

Ans- Matilda borrowed the necklace from Mme Forestier and she wore it to the ball. She got appreciations. She was the most pretty lady at the ball. But when she returned she found that necklace had been lost. Her husband tried to find it, but he couldn’t. They had to return it to its real owner. The price of that necklace was thirty-six thousand. They had to borrow money. They had to face many difficulties to get those thirty-six thousand francs. Thus the course of the Loisels’ life changed due to the necklace.

Ans- Young Seagull was afraid to fly because it was his first flight and he could not muster courage for his first flight. He was afraid that his wings would not support him to fly.

Ans- Mandela thanks them for being part of the inauguration ceremony which is after all, a common victory for justice, for peace, for human dignity.

(v) What is the story about the Kodavu people’s descent?

Ans- Mr. Keesing was annoyed with Anne because she talked so much in his class. After several warnings, he assigned her extra homework. An essay on the subject ‘A Chatterbox’.

(vi) What ‘experiment’ did Maxwell think Camusfearn a would be suitable for?

Ans- ) Maxwell thought of keeping an otter and for that experiment, he found Camusfearna on eminently suitable spot as that place was ringed by water.

Ans- The sight of the bus, filled each time with a new set of passengers, was a source of unending joy for Valli.

(viii) What does Kisa Gotami ask for the second time she goes from house to house? Does she get it? Why?

Ans- She asks for the mustard-seed. The people pitied her and gave her the mustard seed but that also couldn’t bring life back to her dead son.

(i) How does the fog come?

Ans- The fog comes silently like a cat. It looks around sitting on its haunches and then moves on.

(ii) What happens to the house when the trees move out of it?

Ans- When the trees move out of the house, the glass breaks and there creates cracks in the veranda floor. Smell of leaves and lichen spreads into the room.

(iii) What do the’ ‘crow’ and ‘hemlock’ represent in the poem ‘Dust of Snow’?

Ans- The ‘crow’ and ‘hemlock’ represents sorrow. Robert Frost introduces them to create a negative atmosphere which once when the crow shakes the hemlock trees, changes the mood of the poem as the particles of the snow provide him relief and makes him happy again.

(i) What does the thief get from Anil in return for his work?

Ans- The thief gets food which he himself cooks besides living in Anil’s house. Anil teaches him to write his name and promises him to teach whole sentences.

(ii) How is Ausable different from other secret agents?

Ans- Ausable did not fit any description of a secret agent. Unlike the other secret agents, he was very fat. And then there was his accent. Though he spoke French and German, his accent was American.

(iii) What lesson does Ebright learn when he does not win anything at a science fair?

Ans- ) Ebright learns that the winners had tried to do real experiments, not simply make a neat display like he did there. He decides to do a real experiment for the next year’s fair.

(i) Why does the postmaster send money to Lencho? Why does he sign the letter ‘God’?

Ans- The postmaster, when reads Lencho’s letter to God, wishes if he also has the faith of Lencho. So, in order not to shake the writer’s faith in God, he decides to send money to Lencho. He himself gives part of his salary and obliges his several friends also. In order to make Lencho believe that the money was sent by God, the postmaster signs the letter ‘God”.

(ii) Why does the narrator of the story ‘The Black Aeroplane” “say, “I landed and was not sorry to walk away from the old Dakota …. “?

Ans- The narrator was going to England from France to meet his family and enjoy big English breakfast. When he had already flown his old Dakota 150 kilometers, he saw huge storm clouds. There wasn’t much fuel left in the tank and also some of the instruments were suddenly dead. Suddenly he visualized another aeroplane which guided him to land safe. He did not feel sorry for his not reaching England or enjoying break fast because his safe landing was more important for his family than his breakfast.

(i) Write the central idea of the poem ‘The Ball Poem’.

Ans- The poem ‘The Ball Peom’ written by John Berryman is about epistemology of loss. A boy loses a ball. He is very upset. A ball doesn’t cost much, nor is it difficult to buy another ball. His father doesn’t offer him another ball because he wants that in the world of possessions, his son should sense his responsibility. Money is external and his son should learn it from the loss of the ball.

(ii) What do ‘desire’ and ‘hate’ stand for in the poem ‘Fire and Ice’? What does Robert Frost say about how the world will end?

Ans- Desire stands for fire and hate stands for ice. Robert Frost says that some people say that the world will end in fire and some say in icc. In the first stanza of the poem, the poet says that the world will end because of the burning desires of the people. But in the second stanza, he favours ice also saying that the ice like cold and indifferent attitude of the peole in the form of hatred may also cause an end of the world.

(i) Why does Mrs. Hall find the scientist eccentric?

Ans- Mrs. Hall finds the scientist eccentric for three main reasons :

(i) his uncommon appearance

(ii) his arrival at an inn in winter was in any way an unusual event.

(iii) When Mrs. Hall tries to talk to him he says that he does not want to be disturbed as he wants solitude. He says that an accident has affected his face. Thus because of his strange habits and irritable temper, Mrs. Hall find him eccentric.

(ii) Why was the twentieth century called the ‘Era of the Book’?

Ans- The twentieth century was often called the Era of the book. In those days, there were books about everything, from ant eaters to Zulus. Books taught people how to, and when to, and why to. They illustrated, educated, punctuated, and even decorated. But the strongest thing a book ever did was to save the Earth.
